This is an application for pre-settled status. This application is to be used by adults over the age of 18 who wish to apply for naturalisation as a British citizen after they have resided lawfully in the UK for at least 5 years and have held indefinite leave to remain/settled status for the last 12 months (certain exceptions apply). This is a spouse visa application. This citizenship application for a spouse of a British Citizen is to be used by adults over the age of 18 who wish to apply for naturalisation as a British Citizen after they have resided lawfully in the UK for at least 3 years as a spouse and currently have indefinite leave to remain or settled status. This application can be made immediately after you have obtained indefinite leave to remain or settled status in the UK as a UK spouse.

This application is made by anyone wishing to apply for settlement base upon their claim to be a victim of domestic violence or abuse. You can apply under this route if you were previously granted leave to remain as a a partner/spouse of a British Citizen, person settled in the UK or a member of the UK armed forces who has served for at least 4 years and since your last grant of leave to remain you have claimed to have been a victim or domestic violence or abuse. If you are applying under this category, you must show that you meet all the requirements and provide the relevant evidence to support your application.

This spouse partner leave to remain application is normally used to make either a first time family life application or an extension application in the UK. You can apply under this route if you want to obtain leave or you have already been granted leave to remain as a spouse or partner of a British national or settled person and your relationship remains genuine and subsisting. If you are applying under this category, you must show that you meet all the requirements and provide the relevant evidence to support your application.

This is a Fiance(e) visa application. You can apply for a Fiance(e) visa if you wish to enter the UK to marry or enter into a civil partnership. Your partner must be present and either a British citizen or a person with settled status in the UK. Fiance(e) Visas last for 6 months and they are granted under the assumption that you will marry your partner within the validity period of the visa. If you are applying under this category, you must show that you meet all the requirements and provide the relevant evidence to support your application.

This is an application for settled status. If you are from the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein, and you started living in the UK by 31 December 2020 - or you're applying on the basis that both you and your EU family member did and have continuously resided in the UK for 5 years or more then you may be eligibility to apply for settlement under the EU Settlement Scheme.
