Meeting the requirements
UK Immigration Rules
If you to come to the UK or stay longer in the UK then you may need to make an application under the immigration rules. There are a number of immigration rule applications you could submit. We often deal with the following types of applications:
– UK Family Visa Applications
– Citizenship Applications
– Biometric Applications
– Family & Private Life Applications
– Settlement Applications
– Tourist & Visit Visa Applications
– Work & Business Visa Applications
Family visa applications are made outside of the UK. You can make this application for Entry Clearance into the UK as the spouse or civil partner of someone present and settled in the UK and you now wish to reside with them in the UK on a permanent basis. Your spouse or civil partner will need to meet certain requirements for your application to be successful.
Settlement can be granted under paragraphs 276A-276D of the Immigration Rules after a period of 10 years continuous lawful residence. You can make this application therefore if you or any dependents have completed 10 years continuous and lawful residence in the UK and wish to apply for indefinite leave to remain.
The requirements you must meet will depend on whether you are married or in a civil partnership with a British citizen. If married or in a civil partnership with a British citizen then you will be required to meet section 6(2) of the British Nationality Act 1981, all others are required to meet the requirements of section 6(1) of the British Nationality Act 1981.
NTL (No Time Limit) applications:
You can make this type of applications if you or any of your dependents were granted Indefinite Leave to Remain and wish to transfer your ILR status from your passport to a Biometric Residence Card.
TOC (transfer of conditions):
You can make this type of applications if you have limited leave to remain and wish to change your Biometric details.
You can make this application if you are either applying for your first grant of leave to remain in the UK or an extension to your existing leave to remain on the basis of your relationship with your partner and or children, who must be in the UK as a British Citizen or with Indefinite Leave to Remain. If your application is successful you will normally be granted permission to stay in the UK for 30 months.
Tourist and short stay visas are for those who wish to come to the UK for no more than 6 months for a general visit or a family visit. If you want to visit the UK regularly over a longer period you will need to provide proof of your reasons for the continued visits in order to be able to apply for a multiple entry visa that lasts 2, 5 or 10 years. Please note that you are only allowed to stay a maximum of 6 months in a year.

Working with Andrew Williams Solicitors was enjoyable, I found Andrew and Jatinder both approachable and attentive to our needs. We were advised on the pros and cons in our case. We were also advised on what evidence to obtain to support our appeal and told why that evidence was required. We were very happy with how our appeal was prepared and especially happy with the results. Overall a professional service that we would highly recommend to all our family and friends.
